my sweet little Jacob...

Big Boy Bed....

Well... we've done it! We are officially a one crib family again. Jacob is sleeping in a "big boy bed" as they are called at our house! He helped Daddy put his new bed together last week... apparently flashlights double as tools! And don't ask about the princess flashlight in a house of all boys... it's a very long story involving maui, power outages, and walmart's short supply of flashlights!

and then Daddy showed Jake how fun it is to play under the bed (hmmm... will we regret this?)... :)

Jake tested out the new bed's "jumpability" - it passed!

We left the bed up for a few days (without using it).... and we made a big deal about buying his new bedding (or "covers" as he calls them). After our weekend away we decided to go for it! On Monday he took his nap in the bed and did awesome! He had a hard time sorting out the covers... he has never even had a blankie in his crib (I have always used sleepsacks and well, let's face it, I am super paranoid!), so this was all new to him! He finally sorted it out and drifted off to sleep! We praised him when we got up and asked if he was ready to take down the crib... He was.

So after one last jump session, he and Daddy took it down.

As I tucked him in that night I kept thinking what a big boy Jacob has become... wow, how time flies by. It is hard for me to believe he'll be 2 in just a couple of weeks.

Maybe that explains why I love how small he looks in his BIG bed!

oh and by the way... the transition is going pretty well. He's yet to get out of bed (everyone says that happens after a few weeks and the real transition happens!!). It takes him longer to fall asleep and we've had to go up a couple of times each night to help him with his covers.

So far so good...

4th of July Weekend!

We had a great fourth of July! We spent a long weekend in Tacoma with my family... my Grandma June was in town as well! Papa went to the store and loaded up on all things fun for the time (bubble blowers, slip n' slide, and water squirters!!). Here is Papa showing Jake the bubbles... what a fun way to start a fun weekend...
the next morning (the 4th) it was out for a walk... up to the market, starbucks (of course), and finally to the park! and then to Auntie Anne, Uncle Eric, Hayden and baby Clara's house...

Jake can't believe that Hayden has a "park" in his back yard... :)Grandma June and Nana...then back to Nana and Papa's for the air show (notice Hudson's shirt!)...

This freaked Jake out! They had some VERY loud jets and the sound was moving slower than the jets - so a couple of seconds after the jet flew by, this incredible noise tore through the air and pretty much terrified our little Jakey! Thankfully this was also nap time and he (amazingly) slept through most of it!
Once Jake got up, we broke out the slip n'slide!

Papa demonstrated....Jake considered it...but determined it was a much better "water tunnel ramp" for his trucks...
and who could argue with that?Hudson did a lot of laying around... being held, smiling... even some laughing!
the next day we celebrated my Grandma June's 85th Birthday!!
...and Jake has been singing "Happy Birthday to You!" ever since!!and this look pretty well sums up our weekend (and yes, that is one very excited smile!)!

Hudson is laughing!

Hudson started laughing two weeks ago and now it is becoming more of a regular thing! His laugh is an oh so cute chuckle that can't help but make you laugh right back (which he loves!). We are having a blast with this little guy!

Reunion

Last week I had a reunion of sorts! Many of my college roommates got together (with all of our children!) to see each other, catch up, and in some cases meet each others little ones
for the very first time! It was a great day... sadly I didn't take very many pictures - but here is a group shot: That's right... there are 7 of us, and 12 kiddos! Amazing what can happen in (dare I say it?) nearly 10 years!!
And one cute shot of Jake and Walker...

a cuddly morning...

Hudson's Three Month Photos...

My very good friend Brooke (who also happens to be my sister-in-law) recently got a new camera. She graciously agreed to take some three month photos of Hudson... and got some amazing pictures of our little guy!

Thank you, Brooke!!
