December 1st is a much anticipated day in our household... December 1st marks the beginning of our advent calendar! Not the traditional advent of lighting the candles (which we do the four Sunday evenings leading up to Christmas... more on that in another post) - but our daily advent fun calendar! Each day we race down to the tree, turn on the lights and open the card from that particular day in our giant advent stocking. The card tells us what fun event we have planned for the day! If we don't have a fun Christmas activity planned, there is a small package to open - a Christmas book, a Christmas craft, or just a small toy. My boys LOVE this tradition and eagerly anticipated our first day of advent. This year's December 1st held a trip to Molbaks to look at all of the Christmas decorations and pick out their ornament for the year... we also enjoyed a special lunch in their cafe!
My crew...
Emmy taking it all in...
My darling kids...
We met up with our good friends Jada and Ella...
Jacob picked out a "pirate ship." We chose a "baby's First Christmas" ornament frame for Emmy. The boys found a vintage camera ornament for me and a golf cart for daddy. Hudson could not find a Winnie the Pooh ornament at Molbaks so he got a special trip to Target the next day to get his special ornament!
In front of their famous poinsettia Christmas tree...
Such a fun first day of advent!
